GuideOne Insurance is a nationally recognized insurer of houses of worship, senior living communities and educational institutions. Currently, we have an opening for an experienced predictive modeling analyst in our West Des Moines, Iowa office reporting through the Actuarial department. Project work will include planning and delivering predictive models and statistical analysis to address a variety of business applications to support GuideOne’s strategic vision.
Responsibilities Include:
Extract and manipulate data from various systems for input into modeling software such as Emblem
Run predictive models, namely GLM/regression models, for a variety of applications: pricing, marketing, claims, fraud, etc…
Provide demonstrable evidence of a model’s predictive power and documentation of the analysis leading to it
Secure buy-in from stakeholders and work with the implementation team to ensure approved models are built properly into production
Peer review the work of other modeling analysts and interact with other departments
While this role reports within the Actuarial department, it is not an exam-track position.

Skills/Requirements
Strong understanding of data organization, management, data mining, and validation techniques
2+ years of professional experience manipulating large datasets using SAS, SQL, or similar software
2+ years of experience developing predictive models, including a working knowledge of statistical theory
Ability to communicate technical, modeling issues to non-technical audiences
Four year degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, or economics
Demonstrated attention to detail including project plan development and execution
Ability to apply analytics in a collaborative effort across functional areas to support the company’s strategic vision
Knowledge of insurance and experience with non-linear modeling approaches are a plus |
