Process (Value) Engineer:
The Process (Value) Engineer systemically works to improve the value of medical devices products and services by improving product function and/or by reducing product cost. Assesses possible change in material, design, labor, manufacturing process, etc. that would optimize cost while maintaining or improving product quality. Presents assessment/recommendations to management team to gain approval to proceed. Develops and validates chosen change(s). May identify, validate and assess capabilities of potential collaboration partners or external suppliers. Manages cross-functional projects that support the full implementation of process and product design changes. Focuses on reducing internal costs and on improving value for customers through quality and cost enhancements. Identifies opportunities to change material, design, manufacturing processes, etc that result in lower product cost and equal or improved product quality.
Manages cross-functional project teams in the development, integration, test and implementation to manufacturing, of the optimal high-reliability and cost effective changes. Manages product changes often impacting multiple plants across Bloodbank, Commercial Plasma and Patient markets. This role maintains a global focus to ensure the design of manufacturing processes and products are optimized for quality, reliability, Design For Manufacturing and low cost, including:
Manage the development of new techniques and materials for producing lower cost, high quality disposables products and separation chambers
Validate design changes using statistics to minimize business risk while offering improved products to our customers.
Develop product manufacturing methods and equipment that provide products that meet customer needs and can be produced in high volume at low cost by Haemonetics manufacturing sources world-wide.
Evaluate external supplier capabilities to ensure we receive optimal quality at lowest cost.
Support selection and validation of the best supplier partners for Haemonetics.
Manage projects in compliance with Haemonetics SOPs by employing techniques such as project plans, product specifications, phase and design reviews, required documentation, test protocols and test reports.
Ensure projects are completed on time, and within budget. Provide regular updates and project summaries to Haemonetics cross-functional management.
Continuously research for new materials, processing, testing and design techniques, which can be utilized to improve disposables quality, cost and manufacturability.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required including mechanical, plastics, industrial or other engineering discipline required.
Advanced degree preferred.
Six Sigma, Black Belt certification required.
5+ years experience managing cross-functional projects in regulated environments.
Project management certification preferred.
Quality engineering experience a plus. |
