Job Description | Overview:
The Process Engineer I is responsible for process engineering deliverables including thermodynamics, material balances, unit operational simulations, and equipment design and specifications. Be a High Performance Team Member in the Process Engineering Department within the company providing process engineering services for refineries, chemical plants, mid-stream gas processing facilities or utilities systems. Execute deliverables and the process scope of work under the direction of the Manager of Process Engineering. Promote the company’s goals and strategies with employees and clients. Participate as a member in the development and execution of an Engineering Department high performance team focused on values of safety, quality, ethical behaviors, customer satisfaction and confidentiality. Support and enforce continuous improvement processes. May be assigned to work as a Lead Process Engineer on a project.

Responsibilities and Authority
Implement Process Department Processes and Procedures assuring compliance with Industry Codes and Standards
Execute the Process Engineering Departments responsibilities of a multi-phased approach to project development and execution
Integrate and communicate a team approach with all engineering disciplines for the successful execution of a project focused on the early phases of a project.
Review and comply with the Process Engineering Department’s staffing plan through weekly review of earned man hours versus the Project Controls budget
Execute process engineering tasks at the direction of the Manager of Process Engineering including process simulations, heat and material balances, process data sheets for sizing of equipment, hydraulic calculations, development of P&ID’s, PFD’s, Process Controls Schemes, relief valve calculations, development of the process design basis and writing operating guidelines
Maintain strict compliance and technical support with Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes and procedures as well as EH&S
Interaction with the Project Controls Department for both compliance with estimates and schedules as well as assisting with development of deliverable credit basis, schedule creation and implementation, and change management procedures
Manage contract requirements assuring the Process Engineering Department’s compliance with deliverable requirements, process design warranties and guarantees
Assure all process engineering design meets company standards and applicable codes including API, ASME and others used in process design and development for refineries, petro/chemical, mid-stream gas processing facilities and utilities systems
Communicate and interface openly and frequently with the Process Lead, Project Managers, Project Engineers and other discipline engineers and participate in periodic project reviews and clients discussions, as required, to ensure client satisfaction
Develop and implement the continuous improvement process / lessons learned with staff, clients and contractors
Assist in training employees
Identify people that are qualified for open positions within the company
Member of a High Performance Team comprised of all Discipline Engineers leading the development and implementation of communication and execution goals and objectives for the engineering organization
Assist to motivate and inspire a multi-cultural team
Support the proposal efforts and participate actively in Winning Projects
Provide input to a project schedule for delivery of design basis and drawing releases
Develop and implement the Basic Engineering Design Data (BEDD) document for each project
Provide input to or prepare performance evaluations for staff employees as required by company policy
Promote value engineering and technical review by participating in periodic Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) Reviews
Assist other process engineers with deliverable development and check deliverables to confirm that personnel have or are developing the skills required to produce quality PFDs, material balances, simulations, process models, etc.
Assist in the development of regular training sessions for staff technical personnel
Participate in HAZOP meetings with other disciplines as well as the client as directed by the Lead Process Engineer
Execute studies
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 2 years of process design experience in refining, petro/chemical and mid-stream gas processing and utilities
A Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering is required
An advanced Chemical Engineering Degree is preferable
Computer process simulation skills are required (HYSYS, Aspen)
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.A. for any employer without sponsorship
