Job Introduction
The Process Engineer will report directly to the Assembly Department Manager.
Nascote offers a very competitve compensation package including quarterly and annual profit sharing as well as performance based incentives.
Major Responsibilities
Responsible for coordination of new program quotes and launches. Assists manufacturing in continuous process improvements and problem solving. Designs and supervises installation of assembly equipment.
*Develop manufacturing processes for new programs. (Specify assembly equipment, estimate labor requirements, ensure effective employee training, etc.) Prepare quote and other customer required submissions.
*Investigate problems using the 8D or similar problem solving methodologies. Lead teams to effective solutions.
*Establish production floor layouts that promote lean manufacturing concepts and effective usage of space.
*Periodically re-evaluate assemble in sequence and other operations to achieve increases in throughput to result in cost reduction.
*Represent Nascote at assembly plants for problem evaluation or during launches. *Represent Nascote at vendor shops to verify equipment operation prior to delivery.
*Prepare Engineering Change documents and follow up as the changes move through departments.
*Assist production to resolve technical and manufacturing problems and challenges.
*Coordinate department responsibilities for launches or new programs. Provide leadership and audit the process for manufacturing effectiveness and quality.
*Utilize effective communication skills.
*Work various shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
*Make safety a top priority in work behavior and assembly line design.
Knowledge and Education
*B.S. degree in engineering discipline (required).
*Experience in the Automotive Industry or another assembly related field (preferred).
*In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.
Work Experience
*Past work in assembly operations in an engineering, technical, or supervisory capacity (required).
*Minimum 2 years of assembly design and operation. Actual background in customer relations, employee training, and manufacturing operations. A demonstrated history of organizational skills. A background in manufacturing process layout, and inventory management (preferred).
Skills and Competencies
*Must be computer literate to the point where visual basic, access, excel, are easily used and explained.
*Auto-Cad operation is highly desired.
*Must have the ability to be well presented to the customer and maintain composure in highly stressful situations.
*Must be able to provide statements of work and effectively communicate with vendors/suppliers/contractors.
*Should be able to assume supervisory duties and be effective at performing tasks through others.
Work Environment
*The work environment for this position includes office and manufacturing floor tasks. The temperatures are hot at times in the manufacturing area. The noise level is below the ear plug threshold but can prevent normal conversation from occurring. The time spent in the office will probably be over 65 %.
