This individual will:
Work closely with our production facilities, other Engineering groups, Machinery Manufacturing, and outside vendors.
Lead projects and project teams that are focused on the development of process improvements.

The Associate Engineer position is the first level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the newly degreed engineer who is hired with no or very little work experience. The focus of this position is to apply knowledge, skills and abilities while learning and receiving information about the company, procedures, processes and environment ay Dart and applying it appropriately. The work is of minimal complexity, low risk, and short duration.
The Engineer position is the second level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the employee with some relevant work experience who has mastered basic engineering skills. The focus of this position is on receiving and applying information appropriately and looking for opportunities to improve areas of engineering knowledge. The work is of minimal to moderate complexity and risk, and medium duration.
Our Engineers must:
Collaborate as a productive member of project teams, and lead projects of varying size and scope (depending upon the level)
Demonstrate Engineering Professionalism in all activities and interactions, increase personal awareness of customer needs and implement solutions, and provide efficient service to internal and external customers
Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, and communicate and document requisite information, while following established Dart policies and procedures
Apply technical knowledge to identify process and equipment problems, recommend and implement solutions, collect and document data, and verify results
Specific Duties:
Use technical expertise and development of current and future processes related to raw materials through the manufacture of existing and/or prototype products.
Operate Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup product process equipment to test process improvement ideas. Coordinate and/or perform cup machine and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup tests to improve quality and efficiency.
Diagnose Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup product process and equipment problems. Troubleshoot issues and provide recommendations for possible solutions. Utilize Root Cause Analysis where appropriate.
Demonstrate technical knowledge for the resolution of process and equipment problems, implement solutions, maintain data and verify results.
Evaluate processes by preparing test samples, measuring, and analyzing resultant data.
Assemble and disassemble Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup product process equipment and components.
Develop and maintain a body of process knowledge (based on documented Engineering studies regarding the capabilities of our processes, equipment, products and raw materials) as it relates to Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup products.
Monitor Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup production operations and investigate/evaluate new technologies to resolve current or potential problems. Make recommendations for improvements as it relates to Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup products.
Design, implement, test, maintain and train on Foam Cup and Paper Wrapped Foam Cup machinery and processes.
Review cup samples from Corporate Quality Assurance monthly tests and analyze deficiency trends including customer feedback reports to resolve issues as requested by plant personnel.
Represent Foam Cup Operations on activities to design, expand or upgrade production facilities.
Study equipment processes and make recommendations for improvements.
Provide equipment and process support to production plants.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Associate Engineer:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering related field, prefer in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering
Requires good verbal and written communication skills
Requires 2 years of experience in word processing, spreadsheet software, internet and email, prefer 2 years experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes
Requires the understanding and application of trigonometry and calculus
Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report
Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a passport
Requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time domestically and/or internationally
Requires knowledge of heat transfer, energy use/consumption, and the ability to calculate the effect of potential changes
Requires knowledge of machining processes and machine assembly
Requires experience with manufacturing equipment or an operations environment
Prefer GD&T and process control knowledge
Prefer 6 months experience working with machinery in an industrial/technical field or a manufacturing environment
Prefer 6 months experience conducting root cause analysis, troubleshooting machine problems, and analyzing data
Prefer CAD experience
Prefer 1 year experience with hand tools, mill, and lathe
Prefer experience assembling and disassembling equipment and components, as well as specifying and recommending parts and equipment purchases
Prefer 2 years experience planning and leading projects of limited scope
Prefer 2 years experience interacting with vendors, contractors, consultants and regulators
Prefer 2 years experience assisting with piping and instrumentation diagrams
Prefer 2 years experience assisting with capitaland/or operating cost estimation
Engineer:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering related field, prefer a
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering AND 3 years of Engineer related experience
