Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this individual will be the improvement of all the manufacturing processes for plastic injection molded components and their assembly. The initial focus of this position will be project oriented with responsibility for design oversight and installation of new equipment. Moving forward, this engineer will review the entire molding and assembly processes to optimize efficiencies, yields, and productivity. This individual will use process capability studies and other statistical techniques for defining process capability to identify and eliminate sources of process variability, for the ultimate goal of component and final assembly certification.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Evaluates, develops, and executes projects, including project planning, feasibility studies, design, cost estimation preparation of appropriation requests, and review of vendor bids and drawings

•Continually identifies and justifies improvement opportunities for quality, cost, productivity, downtime and scrap.

•Utilizes recognized statistical process control techniques and other measurement tools to develop, maintain and present required reports detailing the effectiveness of existing processes or supporting the need for the introduction of new processes and procedures.

•Assesses and documents existing processes. Implements and evaluates changes to existing processes designed to enhance productivity, safety, or product quality.

•Develops and maintains process documentation systems ensuring that processes and procedures are clearly stated, in the correct format and can be accessed with minimal difficulty.

•Develops and maintains an easy to use Trouble-Shooting Guide for use by production technicians in their performance of duties.

•Monitors daily production, collecting and analyzing data in order to recognize trends and potential problem areas. Develops proactive approach to problem solving through early identification and understanding of problem areas.

•Sets up new equipment, ensures its satisfactory operation and instructs other to use the new equipment properly.

•Prepares technical written reports as required.

•Assists in the training of less experienced department personnel.

•Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technology and equipment and investigates their potential applications.

•Works in other areas and performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
BS Mechanical Engineering

EXPERIENCE:
2-6 years of experience as a project - process engineer

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

•Knowledge of injection molding, assembly machines, and automation desirable
•Working knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing principles
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management, and technical skills Knowledge in DOE and Validation techniques
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•Strong computer skills – Excel, Word, CAD.
•Proven record of success in working with and leading teams
