Purpose:
To ensure the Hazleton Plant Extrusion Department equipment produces film meeting quality, cost efficiency and production schedule requirements. Works to minimize downtime and waste. Strives to improve overall cast film run performance. Primary scope is the cost effectiveness and sustainability of extrusion and extrusion-related equipment for the efficient production of polyethylene cast films. Lends additional plant-wide assistance, when needed, on process improvement concerns.
Responsibilities:
•Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities.
•Interacts with Extrusion crew leaders, operators, assistant operators, pumper-handlers, repelletizer operators, scheduler on a frequent, if not daily, basis.
•Coordinates projects with Project Team and any/all applicable vendors and contractors.
•Maintains accurate records of both miscellaneous and capital project improvements.
•Supports maintenance supervision and plant safety team to keep equipment operating safe and efficiently.
•Diagnoses/troubleshoots problems with drives, motors, thermocouples, blowers and other electrical and mechanical equipment.
•Investigates, recommends and implements departmental changes intended to improve safety, quality, productivity and waste.
•Promotes a system of open, honest communication with employees for ensuring project or process improvement success.
•Communicates to department and plant personnel any anticipated downtime due to projects.
•Oversees extruder parts inventory.
•Prepares Corrective Actions for quality and safety issues and verifies implementation.
•Helps maintain support equipment such as silos, rail siding, chillers, blowers, etc.
•Attends and participates in department meetings as needed.
•Accepts and carries out other responsibilities of a critical or non-critical nature outside of the Extrusion Department to maintain the company/facility.
•Works overtime as required by project or plant necessity.
•Attends work regularly; attends employee meetings as applicable.
•Performs other duties as needed.
Education & Experience Required
Education / Experience:
•BS Engineering or related Technical Field or equivalent (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
•Two - three years minimum extrusion or extrusion-related experience - preferably with cast film extrusion processes and equipment.
•Six Sigma or WCOM Foundation certification or a willingness to gain such certifications.
•Working knowledge of 6-Sigma, ISO, SQC, SPC quality tools.
•Completion of WCOM Foundations or a willingness to complete such coursework upon acceptance of this role.

•Demonstrates a basic level of understanding of Operating Profit, Working Capital, Return on Assets and Returns on Sales.
•Demonstrates a strong understanding of the drivers of plant metrics.
•Must have a valid driver's license (for emergency situations or travel.) |
