Job Description | PURPOSE & EXPECTATIONS
The Process/Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for estimating, mechanical engineering functions, assisting with tooling program management, cost reduction program, plans for production through route sheets and bills of material and general engineering functions for the plant. The direction of these efforts should be focused toward achievement of profit and balanced growth within the approved objectives of the company.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plastic Processing
Assist in estimating new jobs for the facility
Cost reduction program
Various Engineering duties to support plant
Willing to accept Flambeau’s Quality Policy
Estimating through customer received drawings or CAD files to assist Flambeau in preparing part and tool cost estimate
Serve as ongoing liaison with customer to ensure successful launch of program
Schedule sampling of mold and have an engineering presence at those samplings.
Provide customer knowledge to QA department on individual parts supplying help in their preparation of a Quality Assurance plan.
Suggest and implement changes in manufacturing or tooling for cost reduction and improvement in operating profits after proper approval of dollar expenditures
Recommend and be responsible for the selection and acquisition of new plant machinery
Provide ongoing engineering support to the production areas.
Assist in follow up of corrective actions due to quality problems
Complete corrective action reports when necessary
Maintain B/R’s and ECR’s
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting, standing or walking for periods up to two hours at a time.
Reaching, feeling, handling or grasping,
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 40 pounds or less.
Twisting, turning bending.
Working seated at desk/computer terminal up to eight hours at a time.
ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
Inside office and on the manufacturing floor as required.
EQUIPMENT USED
General office equipment and systems such as computers, telephone/voice mail, calculator, facsimile,
spreadsheet, word processing & engineering design software, micrometers, calipers & other quality
testing equipment.
Required Skills
Background in IS0-9000 or TS16949 desired
Working knowledge of injection/blow molding process & materials.
Effective communication - oral and written.
Experience using auto cad or solid works desired
Experience with Kaizen, 5s, SMED, Cellular concepts, and Mistake Proofing desired
Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to follow all company work rules, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Required Experience
B/S Degree in Engineering, Mechanical perferred
1-7 years experience in similar job |
