The Product Design & Development Manager successfully coordinates and manages the development of new healthcare products (Medical Devices, Containers, and Child Resistant packaging) and support of existing product lines for Healthcare North America. The North American Technology Center (NATC) engineering team consists of various engineering disciplines for Program Management, Design/Development, Tooling, Automation, Quality, and Materials/Liners.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage the Design/Development team to provide internal and external customers with category leading technology services and healthcare packaging.
Coordination with all technical functions within NATC engineering group, commercial, plant technology, manufacturing and the customer.
Champion the effective use of the New Product Innovation process to design, develop, and deploy products, processes, materials and tools.
Coordinate & Prioritize assigned projects from conception to completion including tasking, tracking, and loading of resources along with metrics setting & tracking (ProMIS), and design & development oversight.
Creation, implementation, and oversight of CAD systems and Design protocols.
Collaboration with marketing, technology and finance for strategic planning of product development, budget development, and resource allocations.
Presentation of core Rexam Technology platforms and overall technical capability to customers and internal functions
Collaborate with other Mngt functions in NATC team to meet all established metrics.
Develop and Manage training program of group including yearly performance and development aspects (PDS System).
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in engineering with emphasis in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering required with experience in plastics processing, HC products, and tooling (Injection Molding, Injection Blow Molding, Stretch Blow Molding)
Experience in design and development in complex medical devices (injection pens, inhalers, implanters, etc.).
5-10 years of demonstrated project management abilities required.
Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues with customers and plants.
Knowledge in statistical methods (SPC/DOE/MiniTab) and Lean/Six Sigma experience desirable. SAP knowledge also desireable
Strong experience with Microsoft Office programs required to perform regular analysis of data captured on concepts, designs and functional testing. Demonstrated ability to utilize
Office tools for regular communication of data, project status and project justification.
This position requires a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can interface with a diverse group of people and situations and communicate effectively to upper mngt.
Knowledge of regulations guiding Medical device development highly encouraged. (eg. ISO, FDA, CONEG, USP, etc. protocols.)
Experience in validation protocols desirable (eg. URS/FAT/IQ/OQ/PQ processes).
Prior management experience preferred
Multi – Lingual experience is desirable. |
