Medline has an immediate opening for a Product Engineer located in our Waukegan, IL facility. This position will primarily focus on building and growing the diagnostic cardiology product line for Medline. This is a large and growing new market segment in our company. We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working professional with experience in healthcare product management or product development – experience specific to cardiology is preferred. In addition to exceptional leadership and analytical skills, you must have an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive for developing new products and markets.
The challenging responsibilities of the position include:
Develop product development strategies to ensure the successful growth of the product line and successful adoption in the cardiology market.
Generate new product ideas, determine their viability in the market, and determine appropriate facilities or factories to produce the product.
Manage the new product development process from conception through commercialization.
Support the quality organization with any testing and data requirements for new 510K submissions
Travel to cath labs around the country to present new products, test new developments and participate in evaluations.
Use computer software and mathematical models to design, develop and test new materials, devices and equipment. This can involve programming electronics, building and evaluating prototypes, troubleshooting problems, and rethinking the design until it works correctly
Liaison with technicians and manufacturers to ensure the feasibility of a product in terms of design and economic viability
Conduct research to solve clinical problems using a variety of means to collate the necessary information, including questionnaires, interviews and group conferences
Liaison closely with other medical professionals, such as doctors and therapists as well as with end-users
Discuss and solve problems with manufacturing, quality, purchasing and marketing departments
Assess the potential wider market for products or modifications suggested by health professionals or others
Arrange clinical trials of medical products
Deal with technical queries from hospitals and give advice on new equipment
Be familiar and up to date with clinical equipment
Assist with technical training of reps and hospital staff
Investigate safety-related incidents
Keep up to date with new developments in the field, nationally and internationally
Potential for limited travel if needed for trouble shooting
Work closely with purchasing team to communicate necessary changes with factory

Expert in fluid management
BS Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
MBA or Masters in Engineering Preferred.
Cath Lab Experience Preferred
Medical Device Product Management or Development Experience, Cardiology
Background Preferred
5+ years biomedical engineering experience required
30% travel required
Strong communication, leadership, and business skills.
Ability to work with sales, engineering, and purchasing teams to develop new products. |
