Compressor Products International (CPI) designs, manufactures and markets precision-engineered sealing components for reciprocating compressors used in chemical plants, refineries and natural gas processing and transportation facilities.
General Summary and Basic Functions
Summary: Performs engineering product design for new and existing products. Maintains flow of relevant product data to customer service consistent with customer order. Responsible for rendering technical service and training to sales representatives and customers
Nature and Scope: The positions requires concentrated and exacting attention to detail, the ability to use judgment and experience in product design and a reasonable degree of initiative.
Principal Duties:
Conduct engineering analysis in accordance with quality system requirements to provide applicable product designs that meet specifications in the form of drawings, process sheets or written instruction.
Provide systems input as required for material, process, and manufacturing specifications.
Provide design details and standards for the use of designers to create and maintain product design manuals/spreadsheets.
Strive to improve existing product function and or reduce product cost.
Recommend new cost competitive product design concepts and applications
Utilize state of the art analytical design /verification methods to maintain product family as the market leader with respect to maximization of value to the customer.
Responsible for achieving design engineering lead- time service consistent with customer needs. Lead –time reduction in engineering response to customer needs is on on-going expectation.
Interact with sales representative on technical product operating matters and or problems to achieve mutual resolution.
Conduct investigations in field operating problems resulting from product and/or process changes, and recommends and implements corrective actions.
Develops cost estimates for the design and construction of new products, tooling and equipment.
Keeps abreast of the latest developments in production technology through reading of technical /trade journals, membership in societies, advanced course enrolment and customer /subcontracts/supplier contracts
Supports Total Customer Value activities and initiatives.
Maintain a continuous improvement approach to all aspects of work including maintenance of standards in calibrations, certifications, etc.
Accountability: Reports to Supervisor of Engineering

· Knowledge of MS Office Applications
· Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Capable of performing engineering calculations.
· Computer training or experience with aptitude in use of Solid works.
· Demonstrated experience in driving lead times down, improving on-time performance, and productivity standards.
· Proficient in motivating diverse workforce.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 35 % travel is required to meet the essential duties of this job.
Educational Requirements
· Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 3 to 5 years experience in a Manufacturing environment
