Product Manager

Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Develops and implements the strategic direction for an assigned product family in support
of Divisional goals. Acts as a focal point for market knowledge, profitability, forecasts,
commercialization, and planning.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 Develops and implements strategic product and annual business plans targeting
markets, industries, and customers. Identifies product line trends and technologies. Leads long range product planning.

2 Increases sales and market share of assigned product line in support of Divisional
objectives. Tracks progress to plan for revenue, profit, and backlog.

Improves profit and return on investment of assigned product line. Undertakes and
leads cost reduction, capacity planning, and quality improvement projects.

4 Reviews and approves special price requests, maintains price bands and price lists, and develops pricing strategies for new and existing products.

5 Manages new development activity associated with extending and growing the life of
assigned product line.

6 Develops product promotion and commercialization plans including; sales tools, literature,
distribution, stocking, training, and sampling.

7 May have direct and/or indirect supervisory responsibility for lower level marketing professionals and/or support staff. May plan for necessary training, scheduling workload, and evaluating performance of employees. May participate in interviewing and recruitment activities and may recommend or provide input on promotions, salary changes, disciplinary action, etc.

8 Supports Molex TQM program by following approved policies and procedures.

9 Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:
6+ years product marketing experience in electro-mechanical device industry

Preferred:
2+ years product marketing experience in connector industry Previous supervisory experience

Required:
PC skills – word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and presentation software

Preferred:
SAP

OTHER:
Organizational skills to anticipate, plan, prioritize and self-monitor workload. Effective written and oral communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express ideas, exchange information clearly and concisely, and deliver concise and effective presentations to customers and Molex personnel. Interpersonal skills to effectively work with co-workers and external contacts to respond positively to situations. Must be self motivated and goal oriented. The candidate/incumbent must be proactive rather than reactive and must be able to demonstrate personal initiative. Travel to customers as needed.
