Job Description
Overview:
Responsibilities:

Operate under and improve as needed the UpTime Parts Organization product strategy, ensure goals are aligned with overall Company objectives, and developing procedures to produce efficiencies and reduce expenses through strategic supplier relationships.

Manage product life cycle.

Compile and evaluate research on the market’s product requirements.

Collaborate with work groups inside and outside Operate the department to execute product policies and programs.

Provide oversight of industry trend analysis and competitive intelligence within the company’s ethical standards and guidelines.

Support Engineering Operations by ensuring timely support of engineering programs through selecting technically capable suppliers. Develop strategies in connection with engineering to part number proliferation and obsolete parts.

Consult with the General Counsel’s office with regard to key legal requirements. Develop and maintain contract management policies and practices, including SOX compliance.

Responsible for fostering a high-performance culture

Participates with Sales, Marketing, Pricing, and product management in the development and introduction of new products.

Integrate with Purchasing, Pricing, Sales and Marketing to drive and support promotions that allow the Company to grow profitably.

Integrate with Purchasing to ensure effective negotiations with key suppliers/products resulting in optimal commercial terms for the Company.

Responsible for market positioning for various brands. (for example: proprietary parts, all makes, Partsmart brand, etc.)

Responsible for leading new product program launch functions. Provides this support for all brands in the Parts Group, including International, Uptime/Workhorse, Blue Diamond, Military and global brands (if necessary).

Work with Workhorse to increase proprietary parts content, when possible.

Responsible for coordinating (facilitating) all disciplines (Engineering, Manufacturing, Truck Sales, Parts Sales, Reliability, Parts and Truck Pricing, Financing, and Purchasing) to assure timely release of product and program change and cost reductions.
Accountable for market share on his commodity based on industry and supplier figures.

Works with the Pricing group to develop pricing strategies to meet customers' needs while providing a profit for the organization

Works with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and sales to develop new products or enhance existing product(s) or product line(s).

Manage, develop and coach the Project Management Staff, if applicable.

Position Purpose and Requirements:

Execution of Parts product strategies with a focus on customer service, profitability and growth. Ensure smooth product and program launches with emphasis on driving all makes parts content as well as parts availability and competitive contracts with global suppliers.



Accountability for all aspects of a selected number of major commodities. Included in this accountability are profitability, inventory, market share, distribution, and the total bundle of marketing activities necessary to manage at the part number level in order meet RONA and income goals


Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of marketing or product management experience
At least 6 years of marketing or product management experience


Additional Requirements:

Ability to travel up to 20% in accordance with job assignment - U.S. & outside of the U.S.
Position located at Uptime Parts Headquarters in West Chicago, IL
The candidate placed in this position will be ineligible to apply for any other positions within the company for two years following the date of placement, unless approved by his or her manager

Desired Skills:

Understanding of truck, bus and engine aftermarket parts business

Sound knowledge of Parts Operations’ policies and procedures

Ability to relate to and work with a broad constituency of customers, dealers, suppliers, purchasing, and the parts sales organization

Ability to exercise sound financial judgment in the areas of product line profits, pricing, and inventory

Proven ability to provide recognition and respect for direct reports while managing their performance

Business Degree

Advanced Degree

Ability to inspire above average employee performance while showing respect for those employees

Managerial experience

Parts, Truck, Operations or Purchasing experience preferred
