Description:
This position plays a key role at Meridian in the development of our strategic plans for new assays and equipment for our molecular platform - illumigene as well as potentially new molecular platforms. Position will work closely with marketing management, cross-functional partners (especially R&D), and customers to ensure a rapid, broad and customer/company need based product pipeline.

Key Duties:

Support new product development efforts for upstream (1+ years to launch) molecular pipeline (illumigene and other assays):

• Analyze global market, customer, consumer and competitor insights and provide clear direction on assay, instrument, accessory and services to ensure Meridian meets its growth goals

• Manage cross functional development teams regarding market, customer and technical requirements as part of product development process.

• In conjunction with R&D, MBE and key focus market international distributors (Australia, UK, Japan and South Korea), support the building and maintaining key opinion leaders in order to provide key insights and support to Meridian’s molecular product development efforts

• Prepare action plans and appropriate materials to facilitate a smooth transition to molecular launch team (12 months pre-launch) and/or disease state product managers (planned 3-6 months post launch)

• Act as a technical resource for customer and sales force inquires as well as internal cross functional team (R&D, Operations, Regulatory, etc.)

Leadership:

• Demonstrate ownership of product line by leading cross functional teams regarding:

• resolution of product development issues

• communication with global counterparts

• presentation of specific products when required


• Assist in the coordination of product development, design, and production by managing the product design and transfer process as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure.

• Communicate pertinent information to the appropriate parties including administration, R&D, Operations, International Partners, Technical Support, etc.

• Build strong relationships with key customers, thought leaders, KOL’s and sales through active communication and field travel.

Strategy:

• Work with manager to develop product and platform marketing plans that include positioning, competitive analysis, customer value proposition (key international markets and segmentation), targeting/segmentation, pricing, costing, and where appropriate, disease state product portfolio.

• Gain a deep understanding of competitive systems and be able to compare and contrast technologies to establish product positioning strengths and strategies. Understand consumer use and technological differences and advantages of competing technologies to allow for incorporation into overall product positioning and development. Monitor competitive information and trends in the marketplace via information from the sales force, customer interaction, market research, etc..

• Coordinate and/or participate in current product assessments with sales force, end-user focus groups, and KOL discussions.

• Ensure appropriate input into strategic business plan with program management, setting market share and profitability objectives for molecular products

• Assist in developing strategic plans for key markets as well as core business strategy with marketing and sales management.

• Execute the overall Strategic Plan for the assigned product line(s) including product promotions for both customers and Meridian sales personnel.
Tactics and Execution:

• Manage creation of Product Design Specification documents for assigned projects.

• Attend and manage regular cross functional meetings to drive technological and product design requirements.

• Travel to key customers/sales, propagate KOL’s, and assess competition and effectiveness of illumigene and overall molecular positioning.

• Coordinate and participate in appropriate trade shows to insure the propagation of the Meridian Molecular product line and strategies.

Qualifications Required:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Marketing, or related business field OR degree in related scientific
discipline with appropriate experience. MBA preferred.

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in Marketing in clinical laboratory diagnostics

• Experience in molecular technology in the medical diagnostic industry.

• Must have experience in product development, successful product launches or new product introductions.

• Must have cross functional team experience, preferably in a leadership role.

• Proven ability to lead and influence others, especially with R&D and other cross functional partners, Sales, high level customers and management

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Good Microsoft Office skills

• Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements

• Will be required to work hours outside the normal schedule to ensure departmental goals are met.

Requirements (Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands):

• Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the work shift.

• Ability to go up and down several flights of stairs throughout the work day in a multi-location facility.

• Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (gloves, face shields/safety glasses, etc.).

• Must be able to adhere to applicable biosafety practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories
