Job Description
Position Summary:
(Overall purpose of this position)
This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to profitably grow assigned product categories. This includes managing all areas of the marketing mix, building brand equity, being the product expert of assigned categories, and communicating effectively across all functions and levels of the company.

Coordinate and lead the conception and development of strategies to manage the overall health of existing product lines and product categories including:
Analyzes the financial, technological and other trends affecting the present and future needs of customers. Converts trends into a strategy to profitably grow business through product positioning, new product introduction or new services.
Understand brand positions and identify opportunities to build brand equity. Creates and executes value proposition for new products, markets and services.
Develop and maintain product expertise and leadership to both internal and external customers.
Monitors and analyzes competitive activity and adapt plans accordingly.
Manage overall product life cycle from inception to obsolescence.
Coordinate and lead efforts in new product development to achieve targeted corporate goals, which includes the following activities:
Championing new product development through all cross-functional disciplines using the stage gate process.
Conduct Voice of the Customer interviews and integrate end-user requirements within the development process.
Improving and integrating the new product launch process through the entire supply chain.
Execute product launch through stage gate process and checklist, with appropriate launch documents.
Coordinate and lead the development of strategies to evaluate new markets.
Analyzes the financial, technological and other trends affecting new markets in line with Oatey’s vision. Converts trends into a strategy to profitably grow business through market entry with existing product positioning, new product introduction or new services.
Develop and execute promotional activities to support product lines and analyze effectiveness. Modify as required for maximum payback and brand building.
Establishes and executes with Marketing Communications a comprehensive communications program (collateral, web, email campaigns, etc) to deliver the value proposition of the products to the marketplace.
Work with Pricing Manager to establish and refine standard pricing based on existing models, annual volume, and margin guidelines. Responsible for P&L of product line.
Provide ongoing sales support for product lines through sales/customer/rep training, customer service support and the development of effective training materials.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; MBA or Masters Preferred.

In-depth understanding of the sales process.

PC Computer Proficiency: Word, Excel, Access, Power Point etc.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and generate results in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.

Office work environment; incumbent occasionally subject to plant working conditions (hazardous, subject to weather and temperature extremes).
Ability to travel overnight up to 20% of the time.

Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:

Experience in marketing hard-line products, whether Business to Consumer or Business to Business, and an understanding of wholesale and retail channels preferred.
