Position Summary This role is a member of a product management team that is responsible for the global management of software product lines for the Rockwell Automation family of controllers.

The product management team is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle. Specific work involves leading and participating in product strategy and business planning, market and opportunity definition, gathering and prioritizing customer and product requirements, volume forecasting, product pricing and margin definition, promotion and product lifecycle management, as well as coordination with development engineering, project management, local and global sales and industry leads, and with other business groups in Rockwell Automation.

Develop short and long range business plans for one or more product lines consistent with market needs and corporate strategic plans.

Determine the total market (domestic and international) and available market for the product line, and for for preparing the product demand forecast based on the market forecast and for meeting market share objectives.

Gather customer & market requirements for product enhancements across all global regions. Use this information to create customer centric market requirements for the engineering and test teams for product development.

Define and prepare product promotion and product introduction programs and materials that include sales training. Also responsible for product promotion plan including trade shows, product literature plan, product training plan and product distribution plan to achieve business plan objectives for assigned products. Responsible for global coordination with Sales Divisions, Commercial Marketing, Training Center and other groups as appropriate to implement promotion programs.

Define the architectural strategy and content of the product line, including performance objectives and input to functional specifications with cost, price and reliability objectives.

Determine product pricing and recommend pricing policies based on established gross margin objectives and preparation of plans for margin improvement where necessary. Pricing must be determined in collaboration with the product business manager, peer product managers and stakeholder business units

Prepare competitive analysis and formulation of competitive counter strategies for all new products and existing products.

Attend technical symposiums and exhibits on industrial control systems to maintain knowledge on available and competitive technology and for presenting papers and seminars as appropriate to promote A&S products.

Provide commercial support for post-sale product issues, including those involving quality, delivery or pricing.

Establish, execute and report on product line growth initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical field, or equivalent.

Experience Requirements:

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years related experience

Automation industry knowledge and control system background strongly preferred.

Strong customer relationship management skills and ability to collaborate effectively with various functional groups and peer business units.

Good communications skills, influence capabilities, efficient in Microsoft Office products, and an ability to work within a team environment to achieve position objectives

Knowledge of or practical experience with best practices in product development including agile methodologies.
