The Minigrip Consumer Products Group is a Business Unit of Illinois Tool Works (ITW), a Fortune 200 company. Today, Minigrip is a major supplier of disposable food storage bags to the food, drug and mass channels of the retail market sector. The Product Manager (PM) reports directly to the Business Development Manager in the implementation of all new business in the sales and marketing of Minigrip store brand products and programs.
The Product Manager (PM) drives revenue growth by managing tactical product development action plans. The PM works with sales & marketing, customer service, engineering, production, and quality assurance to ensure that Minigrip revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The PM is responsible for analyzing market data, identifying product opportunities and managing the production process pipeline from concept to customer shipment. As part of the process, the PM manages the Customer Service Department ensuring customer satisfaction through complete and timely deliveries.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coordinate the development and analysis of Customer Price, Promotion and Profit Plans with the Business Development Manager (BDM)
Negotiate the procurement of market data through IRI or AC Nielsen
Study market data and competitive information for consumer trends and opportunities
Identify specific market opportunities that match Minigrip manufacturing capability and make recommendations to the BDM
Format market data into customer presentations
Stay current with industry trends, market developments, and competitive pricing, and make recommendations based on analysis of information
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
Coordinate New Product Analysis with BDM and manufacturing.
Manage product from concept through production release
Manage the development of product, graphics and packaging
Work with retail to ensure private label products match customer standards
Manage quality assurance and integrity aligned with customer expectation and manufacturing capability
Manage all aspects of new packaging implementation with new customers and packaging transitions with existing customers, including on-site press approvals on all new packaging.
Assist in the completion of forms, specs, etc. for new and prospective customers
PRODUCT MARKETING
Assist the BDM in formulating strategy and writing Marketing Plans
Propose new product initiatives supporting Marketing Strategy and aligning with retail opportunity
Work with Minigrip Cost Models to understand the profit implications of customer product, pricing and promotion initiatives.
Develop market strategy materials including sales brochures, presentations, pricing, promotions and product samples
Identify and Recommend Trade Shows aligning Minigrip Capability with Market Opportunity and Manage preparations
ADMINISTRATIVE
Monitor sales and earnings, tracking trends and alerting the organization to issues.
Coordinate the distribution of all sales materials and announcements
Coordinate across departments to ensure the smooth timely release of new products
Work with the I.T. manager to maintain the Minigrip Consumer Products Web Site
Assist in the completion of forms, specs, etc. for new and prospective customers
Maintain updated packaging specifications for all store brand customers/items
Be knowledgeable of all Minigrip patents and trademarks
CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGEMENT
Supervise Customer Service Representatives (CSR’s) to ensure orders are processed, and that all related paperwork (i.e. invoicing, deduction research, etc.) are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum experience to include a BA/BS degree plus 5 years in product management, marketing or trade marketing
Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) knowledge and experience with retail channels
Experience in Institutional Food Service Industry and Food Storage category a plus
Strong background in private label sales and marketing
Strength in cost/benefit profit analytics, project management and quality control
Ability to analyze market data, identify opportunity and match with production capability is essential
Familiarity with managing the enforcement of Patents and Trademarks a plus
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer relations skills
Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, customers, and business partners.
Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and demands
Proficient in Microsoft Office |
