Job Description | The Product Manager will manage the long-term product life cycle and business aspects of the product family. Experience in product management and/or strategic marketing is required with preference given to candidates with sales or consultative experience.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Manage the long-term product life cycle and business aspects of the product family.
Define product family strategy, including product obsolescence, new product development, identify market expansion opportunities, and optimize product positioning for target markets.
Plan, forecast, and manage worldwide pricing and product demand, including revenue, margin, average unit pricing, and market share.
Lead collection of customer requirements for product enhancement and new products.
Develop and implement product launch strategies and plans, including marketing plan, sales training, sales tools, and marketing literature.
Identify, establish, and manage strategic partnerships with customers and industry opinion leaders.
Provide ongoing product sales training and sales support.
Help enhance the effectiveness of the sales team through the creation of sales tools, training, and customer segmentation.
Work with sales to develop innovative distribution strategies to generate new business opportunities.
Participate on cross functional teams for new product development and business process improvement.
Work closely with R&D, Operations, Technical Support, Marketing Communications, and Customer Service to successfully perform these duties.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in a scientific discipline (molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, or biochemistry preferred) or MBA with work experience in the biotechnology industry required
Completion of both a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and an advanced degree in business (MBA) is desirable
Three to five years of related experience in product management and/or strategic marketing required. Additional experience in sales or consultative sales preferred
Experience in the life science industry preferred
Experience managing the product lifecycle of a complex product line, launch through obsolescence, including strategic marketing planning, competitive strategy, promotions, and pricing strategy required
Ability to develop relationships and work effectively with other business functions, customers, and strategic partners
Strong leadership and ability to make balanced, tough decisions, and stand by them.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident presenting to large audiences and executive management
Strong initiative, willingness to take ownership and drive a project to completion.
Ability to develop and execute plans, consistently delivering expected business results.
Attention to detail and strong follow through
Ability to work effectively in a changing environment; able to deal with ambiguity.
