Product designers and engineers face all kinds of challenges bringing their ideas to life. As an Autodesk product manager, your job will be to identify and articulate the impact of those challenges and lead a world class product team developing revolutionary solutions for discreet manufacturing. Autodesk Inventor is our flagship 3D modeling solution that enables mechanical engineers to bring their creative solutions into reality. In this role you will help to drive product strategy and direction, and bridge technical and business worlds as you introduce new technologies with creative and prolific development teams. You must have a proven track record for motivating and leading the highest quality team players who are committed to producing and delivering highly successful software products.

Principle Responsibilities

Product champion

•Take responsibility for the whole product experience.
•Articulate product goals and mission to empower design and engineering teams to assure development of a product that meets market needs
•Identify and describe target customers, users, and purchase influencers
•Develop core messages describing product benefits
•Represent the product at industry events and to key internal and external audiences
•Review all product deliverables to assure the offering is complete, meets specific country needs, and includes optimal materials to assure customer satisfaction
•Track and understand business performance across regions to help management react to changing market conditions
•Evangelize internally and externally and at all levels, including sales, software development, end users, executives and the media.
•Serve as the solution expert when dealing with thought leaders, analysts, and press.
•Identify and support buy/build/partner decisions.
Market research and product definition
•Identify and assess market opportunities.
•Initiate market research and sizing markets.
•Plan and execute primary research to identify customer problems
•Understand and clearly articulate market problems.
•Conduct end-user interviews by phone and in person to uncover insights into customer perceptions, problems, and workflows
•Create proposals prioritizing customer problems and illustrating how recommended new product functionality will generate sales growth, improve customer satisfaction or enhance Autodesk market share
Product advocate to regional teams
•Possess in depth knowledge of product; profitability and operational metrics, pricing and packaging.
•Collaborate with product marketing to assure regional sales and marketing teams understand positioning, target customers, and other opportunity attributes
•Work closely with sales and marketing teams to assure the product has the right features, pricing, and availability to assure success around the globe

Key Requirements for Candidate:

•BS, MBA preferred
•Application Engineering (AE) experience is a plus
•Must have Solidworks and/or Inventor experience
•Agile/SCRUM development process experience
•Product management/product ownership experience for desktop or online solutions is a plus
•5+ years manufacturing industry experience
•SaaS/Mobile Application company experience is a plus
•Experience defining product requirements
•Experience developing product positioning, identifying target customers, creating user personas, and developing core product value propositions
•Experience conducting both primary and secondary market research
•Proven success leading multi-function teams in a matrix environment
•Demonstrated strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
•Proven ability to create compelling business cases
•Outstanding person-to-person, public speaking, and written communications skills
•Demonstrated organizational and project management skills with outstanding attention to detail
Desired knowledge and skills:
•Work experience using design software
•Strong passion for mechanical and product design
•Experience developing closed loop marketing to drive awareness and purchase of web services or products
•An MBA from a leading business school is desired, but not required
