John Deere Agriculture Equipment Division- Thibodaux, Louisiana is seeking a Product Verification & Validation (PV&V) FEA Engineer to become a team member of a small but highly cross functional PV&V team. You will assist in general PV&V activities, such as test planning and execution, field load measurements and duty cycle data logging. The focus of test activities will lie around supporting FEA (Finite Element Analysis) projects. The position will grow into an independent FEA analyst function with the focus of executing on-site FEA analysis and coordinating of site analysis with the John Deere Tech Center. In this position, you will:
Provide test administration such as reporting data and writing test reports as well as scheduling support for the complete team and participating in design reviews, FMEA's and other Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP) /design support activities.
Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications together with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
Compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analysis data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations.
Develop and/or execute test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.
Work with division product design teams to enable the design to meet acceptance criteria and to optimize as required.
Plan and coordinates FEA assignments for outside analysis.
Plan and execute FEA work for welded structures and components.



Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field, desired.
Required Skills and Experience
Knowledge in FEA packages such as ANSYS, NASTAN, Abaqus
Ability to interface with suppliers, end-use customers, product designers, and other technical experts in product verification and validation area.
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks.
Experience in using Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Project, and other Microsoft tools.
Leadership responsibilities will include developing, coordinating and executing appropriate development plans for portions of PDP projects. This responsibility would encompass providing technical direction on methods development and participation in decision effecting product designs.
A good understanding of the systems found in construction and agricultural equipment ranging from hydraulics, structures, electrical and electronics, and drive trains.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Pro/ENGINEER experience.
Design of Experiments methodology and familiarity.
Vehicle Dynamics background.
Knowledge in special fatigue verification software packages like nCode by nSoft Inc.
Knowledge of advanced analytical structural verification methods.
Knowledge of low cycle fatigue and crack growth fundamentals.
