Job Description | SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Coordinates and directs activities on their shift and provides advanced level of technical support for all aspects of the molding operations including set-up, troubleshooting and secondary operations. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their shift and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Observes and enforces plant safety rules, instructs team members in safe operating procedures and plant conduct, and requires them to follow these instructions.
Meet customer quality requirements by requiring team members to follow all provisions of operating instructions.
Monitors quality of output and takes appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent scrap and assists others in investigations to determine causes of quality defects.
Aware of production requirements at start of shift and monitors progress during shift and makes adjustments accordingly.
Monitors and communicates press down time, reasons, and production counts.
Understands and can perform functions for the RealTime reporting system, such as production reporting, barcode scanners, and material control.
Instructs team members in most efficient use of machines and materials, and requires instructions to be followed.
Hold employees accountable to company policies and procedures.
Performs complex set-ups and troubleshooting of all jobs in plant.
Supports process engineering in new tool sampling and debugging process.
Provides training and technical support for shop floor team members on new projects and/or revisions to procedures.
Reviews cycle times on jobs and initiates corrective actions on jobs running out of standard cycle.
Demonstrates an understanding of a wide variety of material variations and can apply processing principles and reasoning to accommodate for variation.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of dielectric cure monitoring and control, scientific molding principles, 3-stage molding, basics of design of experiments, and process capability data.
Applies scientific molding principles to daily troubleshooting techniques for maximum efficiency and minimum scrap levels.
Sets up and troubleshoots all secondary operation equipment such as vacuum units, RJG equipment, Smart Trac and secondary heat control units.
Demonstrates understanding of tooling construction and performs medium to difficult
level tooling troubleshooting to make recommendations for improved tooling performance.
Fills in for Process Engineer and technical support when needed in other areas, by establishing new processes.
Demonstrates willingness and flexibility to adjust hours or work overtime as necessary by the business climate.
Support 6S, lean and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve productivity improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
Bachelors Degree preferred with a production related focus and 5-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to communicate efficiently with customers and internal departments company wide.
Ability to work independently, plan and initiate new ideas and methods, apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to delegate responsibility, anticipate problems in area of specialization and plan ahead for them.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and make decisions independently, drive projects, closely check the corrections of work done by self and others, and work in a team environment.
Hands on working knowledge as a technician along with a firm understanding of the Injection Molding theory and practice. |
