The Diagnostics Group (DxG) in the Technology Solutions Global Program at PATH conducts research and development, technical evaluation, commercialization and introduction of low-cost, rapid, novel and easy to use diagnostic tests that are appropriate for use in developing country health systems. DxG is currently recruiting a Project Manager to work with product development teams working to advance diagnostics technologies to commercial availability for neglected tropical diseases and livestock diagnostics.

In close collaboration with the Project Director, the Project Manager will manage all aspects of the project life cycle to facilitate successful project delivery. The Project Manager’s responsibilities include:

•Develop, monitor and control project plans including schedules, cost estimates, human resources, communications, risk management, quality/monitoring and evaluation, and issue resolution.
•With the Project Director and project stakeholders, facilitate processes for development of a portfolio management plan and ensure appropriate implementation.
•Convene and organize regular meetings with Expert Scientific Advisory Committee for strategic input on project direction.
•Lead facilitation of portfolio review and decision making processes with donor and invited stakeholders.
•Deliver project reports and requirements documentation to senior team leadership and key stakeholders and produce executive reports on the projects to support donor reporting requirements.
•Proactively manage changes in project scope and create contingency plans in a constantly changing environment.
•Identify and proactively drive high quality project deliverables, dependencies, and critical path items.
•Communicate, coordinate, and negotiate with internal and external partners on project progress and keep leadership apprised of project changes and milestone delays.
•Work closely with Diagnostic Group leadership to ensure adequate allocation of resources to projects.
•Contribute to and coordinate proposal development with senior team leadership; solicit proposal content from appropriate team members.
•Work with communications staff to ensure development and implementation of communications plan.
•Communicate project updates to internal and external audiences, and interfacing directly with donor as needed.

Required Experience

A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ project management experience in a product development role, preferably related to diagnostics, medical devices, vaccines, biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industries. Demonstrated functional understanding of product development processes, preferably in diagnostic assay and platform development. Strongly preferred experience includes: Experience in emerging or developing country markets; knowledge of and/or experience in working under GMP, or ISO 9000 and 13485 environments; experience interacting with external collaborators and/or donors; experience with risk management, communications management, and overall project management processes and tools; advanced degree in biological sciences or related field; PMP certification.
