The purpose of the Outside Claim Representative position provides mobile, on-site service to policy holders in response to notice of loss. Service includes prompt contact, inspection of damages, investigation, scoping and estimating damages, settlement of claim, and issuing payment. The successful candidate needs to be customer focused, excellent with face to face customer interaction and adept at time management.

Responsibilities:
Interpret the insurance contract and accurately apply the exposures of the claim to fulfill our contractual obligations to the policyholder.
Investigate all exposures and/or perils to determine cause, scope, and cost of damage and/or determine liability and extent of damages.
Perform on-site inspection and estimation of damages.
Conduct investigation to determine the extent of exposure for purposes of reserving and ultimate payment.
Document all claim activity to support the outcome of the claim file.
Comply with all internal and external reporting requirements.
Promptly negotiate resolution and mitigate damages to achieve cost effective claim outcomes.
Engage and use external resources to control allocated expenses to the claim file.
Utilize subrogation and salvage initiatives.
Identify predictive indicators of fraud, perform background checks, coordinate with special investigators, report to external agencies and bureaus, and assist in identification of trends, perpetrators and patterns of suspicious or fraudulent activity.
Utilize special fraud fighting systems and software in the investigation and disposition activities.
Guide policyholder through the claim process to ensure understanding.
Create high level of policyholder satisfaction by complying with standards for timeliness of contact, follow-up, payments, and Unfair Claim Practice Act.
Perform other related job duties as directed or needed, such as providing on-call duty and immediate response and service in emergency and catastrophe situations.
Ability to write building damage estimates using computerized software applications required, with familiarity with XACT/Sketch estimating platform a plus.

The Outside Claim Representative will work from home in the designated territory, and report into the Northeast Property Operation in Farmington Connecticut . The role comes with a laptop computer, digital camera, & a company car equipped with a GPS unit, so a clean driving record is required.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

1 to 3 years of first party residential and structural property claim handling /adjusting, required. (must be evident on resume)
Ability to write structural damage estimates using computerized software applications required, preferably Xactimate.
Demonstrated proficiency in construction estimating and repair techniques
Ability to adjust Property claims in both Personal & Commercial Lines
Strong customer service orientation
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Ability to work independently
Valid driver's license and clear driving record
Computer literacy and strong keyboard skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to be available for catastrophe (CAT) deployment, oftentimes on short or limited notice, as a condition of employment.
Lifting requirement of 40-50 pounds and ability to climb up to roofs to inspect damage.
