Summary:

This key role in Worthington Steel will lead efforts aimed at improving profitability, working capital management, product and supplier expansion through inventory reduction including optimum excess and secondary utilization, non-traditional sourcing methods (slab, excess, ect) and strategic supplier development (UHSS, global).

General Responsibilities:

-Lead review of current overall inventory and non traditional sources (excess prime, filler bar, and slab) for inquiries with less than standard lead time.

-Lead review of current overall inventory and non traditional sources (excess prime, filler bar, and slab) for inquiries / program business with demand less than the product of minimum order from supplying mill.

-Coordinate efforts to identify and execute opportunities to augment a firm purchasing plan with spot buys, excess, slab, etc; to exploit such opportunities in a timely fashion

-Expand the non traditional supply base in conjunction with Directors of Purchasing, to support reduced average cost, expansion of product offerings, allow volume demand, demand inside lead time, etc

-Assist in identifying outlets via documented process for a stressed inventory, at prices greater than scrap, via a periodic, proactive review of inventory / demand; once outlets are determined communicate to Purchasing to eradicate demand for mill buys.
-Lead new product and supplier development process (UHSS, China) in coordination with Commercial and Procurement personnel; adopt project management methodology encompassing all disciplines for supplier identification, communication, monitoring and reporting.

-Identify mill sources that are ideal backups to our key suppliers, with focus on 2+1

-Ensure corporate goals are being met on excess, obsolete and aged inventories. Responsible for sharing best practices with local teams, in house training for planners.

-Identify sku consolidation opportunities across BU's to provide purchasing leverage; added advantage of accelerating heat lot accumulations to improve mill lead times; while reducing overall inventory.

Skills:

-BSBA Preferred

-10 or more years of applicable experience

-Advanced Analytical capability and aptitude

-Working technical knowledge of the various steel grades and steel market (producer and distribution)

-In-depth working knowledge of WOR and supplier capabilities

-Detail Oriented

-Ability to handle high volumes in a timely manner

-Strong PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

-Flexible and adaptable to change

-Good communication skills (both written and verbal).

-Results Driven: self-motivated and possesses the ability to complete tasks on time and with little supervision.

-Ability to perform complex cost assessments
