Reviews new product and process failures, coordinate solutions with engineering and production personnel, and establish methods and systems to assure that product quality is maintained.

Responsibilities/Duties
Under general direction, the ideal candidate will perform functions to review new product and process failures, coordinate solutions with engineering and production personnel, and establish methods and systems to assure that product quality and specifications are maintained. This position is responsible for maintaining quality system requirements. Understanding and managing within the fast pace environment of the automotive industry with high degree of integrity is critical to the success within this position. Must be self-directed and require minimal supervision.

Review new product prior to production start up in coordination with manufacturing engineer and production personnel. Analyze process sheet and identify areas of potential problems and process failures.
1. Review process to assure all blueprint characteristics and/or specifications will be maintained. Identify potential problems and prepare corrective actions where appropriate.
2. Develop a control plan based on process and failure analysis in coordination with manufacturing engineering and plant Quality Manager. Establish a documentation trail for new products and identify specific measurements and checks that need to be made. Detail specific critical measurements on blueprints which serve as a guide for quality action plans.
3. Develop a plan to assist plant in machine and new product production which includes the application of gages and SPC requirements.
4. Prepare preliminary inspection instructions, flow charts, etc. to assist plant personnel in sample production and analysis.
5. Communicate and provide training to plant and manufacturing engineering personnel concerning machine runoff schedules and product characteristics.
6. Develop a quality plan with material suppliers and purchasing to assure that quality standards and product specifications are maintained.
Required Skills

Requirements
•A Bachelors Degree and 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, or equivalent work experience; ASQ/CQE certification preferred.
•Working experience with APQP, FMEA, SPC, DOE, ISO14000 and TS-16949 and automotive manufacturing requirements
•Structured 8D problem solving with Six Sigma practical black belt experience in application of the tools of six sigma
•Knowledge of Auto-Cad or similar design software; CREO (Pro-E) preferred
•Leads continuous improvement exercises through the use of DOE, Six Sigma and other data/analytical techniques
•Participates with the Manufacturing Engineer in the development of PFMEA
•Attends MRB and support projects to reduce scrap and re-work for their respective product lines. Assists all team members by coaching and developing
•Reviews and analyzes quality trends and patterns. Lead/ assist in identifying root causes of problem, institutes corrective actions and verifies effectiveness
•Interacts with customers and supplier representatives on quality issues; provides recommendations to improve procedures that apply to quality
•Directs employees engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel as well as customers and suppliers.

Must have experience in using problem solving techniques and applying continuous improvement techniques.

Required Experience

1.A Bachelors Degree and 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, or equivalent work experience; ASQ/CQE certification preferred.
2.A strong background in APQP, formulation of Control Plans and PFMEAs, Corrective Actions (8D), experience operating in a TS-16949 environment, SPC, PPAP, and practical knowledge of GD&T.
3.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel as well as customers and suppliers.
4.Must have experience in applying continuous improvement techniques as well as able to travel to customer and supplier locations, as necessary.

Preferred Experience

3-5 years of previous automotive supplier quality management experience is preferred.

Preferred Education

Bachelor degree.
