Quality Engineer

Job Description
Responsible for supporting internal and external efforts for quality improvement. Develops and maintains receiving inspection plans and assembly inspection plans. Supports warranty analysis for Assembly and Manufacturing. Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach will be necessary to achieve results.

Develop a plan to address Root Cause for Warranty Issues.
Develop a plan for accurate torqueing throughout all Muncie Facilities.
This would include, but not be limited to, determining if Muncie needs to transition away from pneumatic impact wrenches and move to electric impact wrenches.
Developing a test method to verify that all Muncie facilities are achieving a consistent torque value.
Develop a plan for Leak Testing for all PTO assemblies.
Develop a plan for Functional Testing of all PTO assemblies.
Design Work Holding and Mistake Proofing devices that would assist in the production of individual components for the assembly cells for Testing.
Supports the identification and resolution of product or quality system problems by: executing the quality function for the Nonconforming Material Review process for both purchased and internally assembled components.
Supporting the solution of internally generated problems through root cause analysis and corrective action.
Monitoring the distribution system quality system performance and initiating corrective action when necessary.
Maintains both the SCAR and CAR logs, reviews all responses to open internal Corrective Action Request (CAR’s) and supports all departments with corrective and preventive actions.
Responsible for the development of the manufacturing/inspection plan and associated documentation in support of the bench assemblers.
Responsible for the development of the manufacturing/inspection plan and documentation in support of the short assembly line.
Review and improvement of assembly techniques for improvements related to product quality.

Provide administrative service for warranty analysis of non-PTO items.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum (5) years equivalent experience.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and ASQ Certified Auditor desirable.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Basic blueprint and geometric drawing and tolerance skills to interpret drawings.
Basic inspection skills with hand gauging instruments.
Basic machining knowledge of part fixtures and work holding.
Skill and knowledge of all kinds of inspection equipment and functions.
Ability to utilize the personal computer to run software programs.
Ability to write clear, concise instructions.
Ability to document problem solving efforts.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
