• Responsible for developing and administering the company’s Quality Assurance Program. Ensure that the quality control procedures and policies of the company are coordinated throughout the organization.

• Develops and directs quality control plans or process control procedures that will ensure production of finished products which meets quality specification and standards.

• Coordinates and directs inspection and testing procedures and program for in-process and finished products.

• Responsible for implementing and supervising the division’s inspection and testing program, and procedures for in-process and finished products. Recommend corrective action necessary to ensure the conformity of quality specification and standards.

• Responsibility for supervising multi-shift Quality Assurance Department in industrial production environment that operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

• Supervision includes assigning and directing the work of team members on the Quality Assurance team.

• Oversees and/or performs basic defect and failure analysis of tubular products.

• Management of the Defective Material Reporting (DMR) program includes providing basic technical analysis and assistance to Steel Suppliers. Responsible for all DMR claims, maintaining DMR system requirements, and the inventory and control of all raw material non-conformance issues.

• Initiates and organizes the identification and investigation of all product defects (both internal and external). Prepares and submits corrective action recommendations. Develops, updates, and maintains all quality standard operating procedures and work instructions, including overall divisional responsibility for maintaining quality and inspection documentation and records.

• Works closely with production management in developing and implementing standards and procedures to ensure quality of production and that customer specifications and requirements are met.

• Develops work instructions that include systems and controls to ensure a safe work environment, while maintaining compliance with quality standards and procedures.

• Knowledge of customers’ requirements, specifications and critical success factors to ensure that quality procedures and processes are directed toward achieving these standards.

• Assists in the development of the high performance work teams. Must be a team player
and support the development and growth of work teams.

• Responsibility for preparing, training and developing all Quality Department employees (current and new) for their assigned position.

• Creates, develops, and implements in-house training courses to instruct the divisional management and workforce on quality procedures and standards. Educates and instructs Production Management, departmental employees, and appropriate production personnel in quality control procedures, standards, compliance, auditing, and testing equipment. Confirms these procedures are being maintained.

• Responsible for product testing, internal auditing and customer/supplier related issues such as claims, complaints, and product development.

• Contacts customers, when necessary, to confer on specific quality issues, concerns, and problems.

• Leads technical support to sales and production in developing quality improvements, developing suitable products for new and existing customers, new product application trials, technical review meetings and issues regarding quality. Assists with overcoming customer difficulties related to the use of our products. Assists with customer problems solving during on-site visits, including conducting presentations to customers on existing or new products.

• Oversees, reviews, and investigates all concerns, complaints or claims received from customers for the purpose of determining where quality control emphasis, procedures or processes should be placed in order to eliminate existing or future problems. Job Requirements
Education, training, experience:

• B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Industrial Engineering (IE), or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET). Extensive experience working in quality management and overseeing quality management systems and process in the steel industry may be accepted in place of an engineering degree.

• 3-6 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager is required. Certified Quality Engineer or Manager (CQE), (CQM), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), and member of American Society of Quality are preferred. Experience working with and Managing a Quality System is required.

• Experience leading six sigma is required and the implementation of six sigma in a manufacturing facility is highly preferred.

• Experience with the following is a plus:

o Non-Destructive Testing, specifically Eddy Current and Ultrasonic testing

o Metallurgy and metallurgical analysis

o Upstream oil & gas industry

• Extensive and successful experience working with customers on quality concerns, problems, and claims. Must include documented responsibility resolving and responding to these issues.

• Effective manager and skillful trouble shooter and problem solver with an analytical mind and strong technical and mechanical aptitude. Must have effective communication skills.

• Proficient computer skills in MS Office.

• Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to think ahead and plan over 6 month horizon and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent technical writing skills with the proven ability to write technical reports, procedures, and manuals for internal documentation.

Typical Physical Demands:

• Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day on a regular basis. May require additional hours of work, as required.

• Requires some physical strain and ability to use full range of body motion to include: bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting and lifting of moderately heavy items such as product (tubing) test pieces, test equipment.

• Position requires frequent walking and/or standing on concrete floor while wearing steel-toed shoes. May walk up to two (2) miles per shift while performing essential duties.

• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

• May require unassisted lifting of a variety of objects from various positions, which range in weight from 5 to 50 pounds with an average weight of 34-37 pounds.
