Job Description | The R&D Laser Scientist will be involved with performing research and development of high power direct diode laser technology, external cavity resonator design and in particular TDI’s proprietary wavelength beam combining (WBC) architectures. Responsibilities include design, modeling, tolerance analysis, construction, characterization, and analysis of performance versus model of such laser systems. Related responsibilities include generating specification documents and working with and qualifying vendors for optical components and diode lasers necessary to achieve overall system specification.
Experience and Education
MS or PhD in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with concentration in Lasers, and minimum of two years’ experience post-doctoral training preferred with emphasis in modeling fiber lasers, solid-state lasers, semiconductor lasers, laser-based optical subsystems, laser stabilization, high-power lasers, and optical engineering. Expertize in making accurate optical measurements. Knowledge of optical coatings, physical optics such as micro-lens arrays, diffraction gratings in high power environment will be necessary. Ability and desire to work independently or as a part of a group and efficiently in a highly-intellectual and fast-paced research and development environment.
