General Summary:

Sonos leads the wireless multi-room high fidelity sound system market, growing 80+% YOY the past 3 years! We have created a new Radio System Engineer position in our Product Development team, and we’re looking for this expert to simulate models, be hands on debugging in the lab, and bring new radio system ideas and technology to our products. This person will be a self-starter who partners cross-functionally with multiple teams, including Software, to ensure a modern understanding of radio systems. Our sound systems contain highly customized components, and our wireless technology is no exception. In fact, our customers look to Sonos for a supreme music experience which cannot happen without the quality wireless mesh network technology we’ve created.

Responsibilities:

Develop and validate wireless systems including:

2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Radio and RF system such as receiver, transmitter with essential parametric. (power, EVM, linearity, etc.)

Develop wireless communication models in MATLAB.

Characterize and debug wireless systems in detail.

RFIC transceiver systems bring up, debugging, optimization, verification, characterization of performance.

Optimize certain 802.11 MAC parameters and functionality.


Qualifications

MSEE and 12+ years experience or PhD and 8+ years of digital radio engineering. Which includes RF/HW board and system level design. As well as experience in the commercial wireless field of RF, RFIC, RF systems, or RF applications.

Being proficient writing scripts in Matlab.

Support SW design, system and platform teams.

Strong knowledge of WLAN 802.11n. Knowledge of other technologies like Cellular GSM, EDGE, CDMA, Bluetooth is a plus.

Must be able to analyze RF system such as receiver, transmitter with essential parametric (power, EVM, linearity, etc.)

Understanding the trade offs of RF system design is essential.

Knowledge of RFIC circuits such as PLL, LNA, Mixer, LO, PA, etc.

Knowledge in wireless BB algorithms.

Strong hands-on skills in areas of board level RF troubleshooting, RF measurement techniques, and RF system level knowledge.

Experience with FM-audio systems is a plus.

Strong hands on skills and good working knowledge of RF test and verification equipment such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, frequency/function generators, and an understanding of audio analyzers such as the Rohde & Schwarz UPV.

Strong RF/HW board and system level troubleshooting skills including antenna and RF network matching.

Proven ability to use RF knowledge to optimize layouts, antenna matching, power supply and critical node filtering.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
