Job Description
I. Summary of Position

Responsible for providing appropriate evidence-based, scientific peer to peer exchange of medical information to leaders in the local and national medical community and internal colleagues focused on the area of Rheumatology and Nephrology.


II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Bridge communication between clinical, commercial team and designated members of the healthcare community

Develop and execute plans and programs for field-based medical communications related to supporting appropriate use of Savient products and working towards improving patient outcomes

Present benefits of Savient products to managed care organizations and other third party-related payers

Provide information on the clinical outcomes and economic benefits of Savient products
Communicate medical information and scientific endeavors in order to create a Thought
Leader network and strengthen professional relationships with regional and national thought leaders

Work with local infusion centers and point of care entities as needed, serving as a clinical resource

Provide input to Savient management teams on phase II to IV studies and other clinical opportunities as appropriate

Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Company from time to time

Qualifications
III. Education Requirements

Doctoral level scientific degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD) or healthcare provider with
rheumatology and/or nephrology clinical practice experience.

IV. Experience Requirements · 2-3 years as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry


V. Other Skills and Abilities Required

Must be able to apply technical expertise and solutions to diverse/individualized situations

Must be able to gain access to Key Opinion Leaders and hold meaningful discussions on scientific issues

Must possess excellent presentation skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations of clinical data, as well as the ability to successfully interact with medical professionals within compliance and regulatory guidelines at all levels are required.

Must be able to work independently without appreciable day-to-day direction

Must execute work from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results against objectives.

Must be able to travel as needed. The position is field-based, with required regional travel of about 60% on average, and potential national and international travel. Weekend travel may be involved.

VI. Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Requirement

According to requirements specified by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the incumbent is responsible for the following:

Completing above duties and responsibilities timely, accurately and in accordance with the internal control framework for all Savient business, operational, administrative or regulatory processes;

Becoming knowledgeable of internal controls operating within his/her department and complying with these control activities by (1) being aware of key controls, risks and compensating controls in this business area and (2) by identifying and reporting changes in operating and internal control environment to the President and CEO, as well as the Chairman of the Audit Committee
