THIS POSITION COULD BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN THE REGION. PREFERABLY, DETROIT, MI or CHICAGO, IL

The Manager of Sales, Mid-West will focus primarily on developing new and expanding existing business, including overseeing projects covering all market segments of Oerlikon Balzers in the their assigned area. She/He will work with the Senior Operations Manager responsible for the area to develop and execute business plans by production center, these include Harrison Township, MI; Wixom, MI; Richmond, IN; Elgin, IL. She/he will define the needed service portfolio in the centers, the needed pre and post treatment procedures, van routes and capacity in order to achieve the targets outlined in the business plan. She/he will work closely with the Segment Managers for Cutting Tools, Forming Tools and Reconditioning to make sure that segment targets are achieved in the assigned sales area. She/he will be managing Territory Account Managers and Cutting Tools Specialists in the assigned area and hire and train new people as needed and supported by the business plan.



Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage global accounts in the assigned area, such as Star SU and Gleason, as well as perform prospecting to drive achieve sales targets
Manage a portfolio of key accounts as defined by Head of Sales
Lead a team of Territory Account Managers and Cutting Tool Specialists in the assigned area and provide training to the team as required
Identify and cultivate new industries opportunities with potential customers as well as penetrate existing industries to grow Balzers’ products and services.
Multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple assigned projects, as many as 10 simultaneously
Negotiate and close sales opportunities in a timely manner with a focus on servicing the customer’s needs while generating profitable and long-term business relationships
Provide project leadership as necessary to facilitate the acquisition of business and successful delivery customer requirements
Consistently develop and maintain strong market data re: competition, sales development, coating equipment, and customer purchasing trends
Develop monthly Budget and Forecast by center and analyze monthly or quarterly sales activities (Losers and Winners)
Drive joint developments as needed together with the ASC and Segment Manager
Maintain relevant customer/account information using Balzers CRM database
Actively engage in special projects as determined

Minimum Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or related discipline required (equivalent experience may substitute). MBA preferred.
5+ years of experience selling/market development experience in PPD, PVD, and/or surface treatments industry is required
3 years of experience with in a consultative sales role is preferred; must be able to function as a technical expert in his/her primary segment (e.g., Medical/ Automotive Components, Stamping/Forming, Cutting Tools, Die Casting, etc.)
Strong proficiency developing segment/product/ market analysis, competitive intelligence, and sales forecasts
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to understand and interpret technical requirements (i.e., technical drawings, prints, etc.)
Proficiency working with MS Office (i.e., Excel, Work, and PowerPoint) is required
Effective verbal /writing skills and strong presentation skills
Must be energetic, goals-oriented, and effective at project planning
Must be willing to travel domestically (overnight) or internationally as required, 50-75% travel time required
