This position is accountable for the provision of safe, efficient and therapeutically effective care on the patient unit to which assigned. Utilizing the nursing process, care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, legal and regulatory standards.. . Thoracic ICU at Intermountain Medical Center focuses on post operative critical care of patients undergoing the following surgical procedures: Coronary artery bypass grafts, heart valves, heart transplants, mechanical circulatory support devices, vascular surgeries, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies. . . The Cardiovascular surgery operating room suites are directly adjacent to this unit. The interdisciplinary care team includes: Registered Nurses, intensivists, CV surgeons, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, care managers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, critical care techs and health unit coordinators.. . Must have a current license as a Registered Nurse which allows you to practice in the state of Utah, or be license eligible.. If new graduates, experience on a Thoracic ICU unit is highly desirable.. Minimum 1 year acute care experience or recent cardiac experience is required. . Minimum 1 year ICU experience is preferred.. CPR and ACLS are required.. Physical ability to perform tasks in the assigned work area(s).. Successful completion of the pre-hire and post-hire competency examination(s). Skills and knowledge required to competently perform job responsibilities(Performance Standards/Skills Pass-Offs required at the time of department/unit specific orientation and performance evaluations).. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.. Ability to transfer and position patients independently and safely.. .
