Role Purpose/Accountabilities:
*To support plant characterization activities for Agronomic Traits projects
*Monitoring the progression of plants through Agronomic Traits transgenic event pipelines and coordination of sampling and for routine Taqman, qRTPCR and ELISA assays and additional analyses as needed
*Management of data generated in an accessible and organized way to enable scientists within Agronomic Traits to make informed decisions regarding the selection of events to progress forward in the pipeline
*Monitoring the progression of plants through Agronomic Traits transgenic event pipelines
*Coordination of routine sampling and analysis for Taqman, qRTPCR and ELISA and other analyses
*Collection, collation, and management of transgenic event pipeline data in an organized and accessible form
*Depending upon the level of the candidate, subsequent analysis of the data and selection of events to progress forward
*May also assist in the setup and execution of greenhouse or local field-based experiments
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Critical knowledge:
*Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology or a related field.
*This role requires at a minimum a basic understanding of molecular biology and plant biology
*Training in database management is desirable
*An understanding of basic statistics for experiment design and data analysis is desirable
Critical skills/experience includes:-
*Expertise with Microsoft Excel-
*Proficiency with the collation and organization of disparate datasets and maintenance of a database of information-
*Experience with plants, particularly transgenic plants, is strongly desirable
Beneficial to the role:-
*Experience working with plants and plant materials in greenhouse and/or field settings, taking biological samples and physiological measurements-
*Experience with LIMs systems, track & trace (barcodes, RFID, etc.)
*Experience with MS Access or other database management software-
*Experience using JMP, SAS or other experimental design and data analysis software-
*Experience using VectorNTI
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office
