Research Associate - Assay Development

Job Description
We are looking to add a Research Associate – Assay Development in our Biomarker - Clinical Pathology Department in Greenfield, IN. As a Research Associate, your daily job duties would include the following:


Perform ligand binding (e.g. AlphaScreen, MSD. Luminex, ELISA) assay development, optimization, validation and execution.

Consult with supervisor and other project scientist to develop analytical plan

Research scientific literature to develop analytical plan

Communicate experimental plan to supervisor and/or client and revise as needed

Perform assay trouble shooting independently and in conjunction with other team members for routine and non-routine assay problems and select optimal conditions

Prepare clear, detailed experimental reports that enable reproduction of experiment by others in the lab and include precise tracking of samples and data.

Execute ligand binding assays with analytical rigor per experimental proposal and internal quality standards

Generate concise and clear technical reports suitable for communication to clients

Suggest and evaluate new assays and assay improvements

Evaluate new techniques, technologies, and instruments

Collaborate with other member of project team for effective and on target delivery of client biomarker needs

Comply with regulatory guidelines, Universal Precautions and Covance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.

Education/Qualifications The Required Education for the Research Associate – Assay Development includes:

B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field + 3 years of experience with ligand binding assays.

Experience

Required Experience/Skills for the Research Associate – Assay Development includes:

Expertise with ligand binding assay techniques and procedures is required

Expertise with assay analytical validation procedures and data analysis is needed

Individual must have five years bench-level laboratory experience in biological science including 3 yrs experience in research closely involved with ligand binding assay development and operation.

Prior experience developing assays from scratch in a diagnostic or pharmaceutical company is preferred.

Proficiency in applicable instrumentation software, database, graphical and statistical software

Good oral and written communication skills

Ability to interact with and support others in a team-oriented environment
