Job Description | Proteomics and Analyte Separations Technician
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated researcher to support our core proteomics group in identifying and characterizing novel cancer antigens and therapeutic antibody targets. A primary role for the successful candidate will involve processing of enriched protein samples from primary patient specimens for analysis on Igenica’s in-house hybrid linear ion trap-Orbitrap mass spectrometers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new methods for protein and peptide separations as part of our continuing effort to innovate novel proteomic strategies for target discovery. Additional responsibilities will include providing supporting roles for sample tracking and associated data entry, and assistance with tuning, calibration, and routine maintenance of the mass spectrometers as needed.
This position requires a BS in Biological Chemistry or equivalent discipline. While experience with mass spectrometry is not a requirement for this position, the successful candidate should have previous experience in performing standard molecular and/or biochemical techniques in a research setting. Technical skill with protein precipitation, liquid chromatography-based fractionation, and/or experience with Agilent Chemstation software, are considered highly desirable. Candidates must be meticulous in their work habits, and possess effective communication and organizational skills. |
