Serve as the project leader for an innovative research program focused on the role of inflammation in neurodegenerative diseases. Using a combination of human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell and primary cell models, the successful candidate will design and implement experiments to investigate neuroinflammatory/ neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, identify and validate targets, and generate disease modifying, large molecule drug candidates.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Immunology or other related fields
• Minimum of 5+ years experience in industry with management experience
• Proven capability and desire to both perform high quality bench level work while managing a research team comprised of both Ph.D.’s and non-Ph.D.’s
• Demonstrated high level of scientific creativity, independent thought, and evidence of collaboration with others
• Reputation as emerging leader in immunology or inflammation with sustained performance and accomplishment as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Extensive experience in cell biology of innate immune responses, development of primary cell-derived disease models, as well as animal models of inflammation
• Demonstrated ability to work on diverse immune mechanisms of action
• Demonstrated ability to identify and validate targets
• Demonstrated ability and passion for working in a fast paced multidisciplinary team and managing multiple efforts in parallel
• Excellent verbal and written skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience investigating underlying mechanisms of monocyte/macrophage or lymphocyte activation
• Experience with antibody therapeutics
• Experience with cell-based assays for cytokine and chemokine signaling pathways involved in monocyte/macrophage activation and differentiation
• Experience working in small startup biotech company |
