Job Description
Sarepta Therapeutics is focused on developing first-in-class RNA-based therapeutics to improve and save the lives of people affected by serious and life-threatening rare and infectious diseases. The Company’s diverse pipeline includes its lead program eteplirsen, for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, as well as potential treatments for some of the world’s most lethal infectious diseases. Sarepta aims to build a leading, independent biotech company dedicated to translating its RNA-based science into transformational therapeutics for patients who face significant unmet medical needs.
The Position:
Sarepta is currently seeking an experienced individual for the position of Scientist in the Biology/Discovery Research Department. This position reports to the Director of Discovery Research, Immunology and Infectious Disease.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
•Independent design, execution and analysis of gene expression modulation by RNA-based therapeutics in cell culture and animals models
•Primarily performs hands-on work in the laboratory executing experiments and assays
•Advanced data analysis and data management
•Formulate and present analyses with compelling presentations and/or written reports to wide audiences
•Other duties as assigned
Education and Skills Requirements:
•PhD degree in relevant discipline (Immunology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry)
•Minimum two years of experience with drug development in a biopharmaceutical industry laboratory
•Extensive experience developing RNA-based therapeutics, including early discovery research and target validation
•Candidates with hands-on experience working with rodent animal models will be given preference
•Expert understanding of cellular and molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to:
•Flow Cytometry, Luminex and BiaCore
•Gene expression analysis including RT-PCR, qPCR
•RNA analysis of expression from cell culture and rodent tissue
•RNA isolation and purification
•Culture of transformed mammalian cells and primary human and murine lymphocytes and or neuronal cells is highly desirable
•Demonstrated excellence in teamwork and effective collaboration; flexibility in project focus, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to contribute ideas to the problem-solving process
