The QC Scientist performs the analysis on allergenic and client components, raw materials, intermediates, and finished products following written procedures, providing the data required to determine raw material/product disposition. Essential responsibilities are to:
Analyze raw materials, in-process product, or finished product according to established procedures and as directed by the Supervisor.
Record results and other salient data in the prescribed manner to meet regulatory requirements and provide information basic to product disposition and shelf-life
projections.
Perform experiments to assess product or procedural problems under the direction of the Supervisor. Assist in other forms of troubleshooting as directed.
Prepare reports on new or ongoing product quality control testing for management as directed by the Supervisor.
Complete core QC training per procedures.
Adhere to the pertinent aspects of plant safety programs and in keeping with GMP’s or other regulations.
Maintain and operate laboratory equipment to assure accuracy and confidence in performance.
Perform special assignments as directed by Supervisor.
Scientist II will also create new procedures and protocols as needed and participate in direct internal and/or extern client interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Scientist I - Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology – OR - an Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related science with at least 5 years relevant laboratory experience and demonstrated performance required.
Scientist II – Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology and 2 years in a lab environment - OR –an Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science with at least 7 years relevant laboratory experience and demonstrated performance.
Must have knowledge, practical application, and understanding of the sciences are necessary to perform the functions of this position.
The incumbent must have an ability to utilize scientific literature, and to make effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical. A working knowledge of chemistry, statistics, computer-assisted data processing, and good-manufacturing practices is desirable.
Must demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
Must be self-motivated good communication and human relation skills, and must be able to effectively schedule, prioritize, and organize his/her time. The incumbent must also demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting supporting project teams as a Quality Unit representative.
Physical Requirements: Lift 25 lbs. Vision corrected to 20/20. Manual dexterity required. Contact with allergens and chemicals.
Salary: $40,500 Min to $53,975 Mid DOE
