The Scientist, Prokaryotic Eukaryotic Genome Engineering will work closely with a team of Molecular Engineering scientists in a biotechnology company developing innovative gene-based tools and engineered proteins for clinical and industrial applications.

POSITION SUMMARY
The qualified candidate will work closely with a team of Molecular Engineering scientists in a
biotechnology company developing innovative gene-based tools and engineered proteins for clinical and
industrial applications.
Lead laboratory projects to develop efficient methods for site-specific integration of complex transgenes in organisms from bacteria to humans using cutting-edge genome engineering technologies.
Develop optimized protein expression strains through knockout, knockin, and mutagenesis of relevant pathways.
Characterize the activity of novel recombinases and integrases and identify the genomic targets of these enzymes experimentally.
Alter the substrate specificities or biological activities of target proteins through mutagenesis, gene shuffling, and/or protein engineering approaches.
Experimentally evaluate gene delivery reagents/ devices for utility across prokaryotic and eukaryotic platforms and develop optimized protocols.
EDUCATION
Ph.D. or Masters of Science in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology,
Synthetic Biology, or related field)
EXPERIENCE
0-1 years post PhD experience or 5+ years post Masters of Science
3+ years hands-on experience in genome engineering of a prokaryotic or eukaryotic organism.
5+ years hands-on molecular biology experience, including genomic cloning expertise.
Experience with gene shuffling, integration-site cloning, and site-directed mutagenesis is preferred, but not required.
Experience developing and performing statistically validated quantitative biological assays is preferred but not required.
Proficiency in analyzing genomic sequence data through bioinformatics approaches is required.
Proficiency in common bioinformatics programming languages, such as Perl, Python, or Java is a plus.
