Scientist/Senior Scientist, B Cell Discovery
Job Description
Theraclone Sciences is a privately held research and development biotech company located in Seattle, WA (www.theraclone-sciences.com). Our focus is in discovering and developing human monoclonal antibodies for therapeutic use or as the basis for vaccine development using the proprietary I-STAR technology that differentiates from other technologies by its success in isolating rare antibodies from the memory B cell repertoire.
Theraclone is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ph.D. level immunologist to work in the field of discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies derived from the human B-cell repertoire. The successful candidate is expected to develop, implement, and conduct cutting edge research to interrogate the adaptive immune response and successfully contribute to and lead efforts for the discovery of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. The individual in this role will have a keen and in depth understanding of B-cell biology and all humoral and cellular components of an antibody response to exogenous and endogenous antigens. Candidates with previous industry experience are preferred.
The qualified individual will have:
An in depth working knowledge of the innate and adaptive human immune response
Highest degree of hands-on expertise in all aspects of B-cell biology
Working knowledge in the discovery of fully human antibodies from B-cell cultures
A proven track record of successful experimental planning, work-plan designing and project delivery as well as developing, implementing and optimizing processes of B cell derived antibody discovery
A solid working knowledge in the application of immunological techniques such as ELISA, FACS analysis, a wide variety of immunology assays, and cell culture with demonstrated hands-on experience in plate and cell based assay development and optimization for high throughput formats
Experience in the field of therapeutic antibody discovery and preclinical development is preferred
Experience of therapeutic protein discovery in indications of infectious disease is preferred
Demonstrated motivation and an acute aptitude to learn quickly, solve problems, develop and implement new techniques and protocols, and expand knowledge in areas of biology relevant to Theraclone
Proven ability to work in a dynamic fast-moving matrix organization to deliver on project and company goals
The ability to successfully work in a highly collaborative team setting is required
Ph.D. degree in Immunology with a minimum of 5 years post-doctoral experience
