Job Description
External Description: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and completing operations and maintenance tasks/projects related to pipeline, measurement, corrosion, and related equipment at a gas storage facility. This position requires the incumbent to work independently with minimal supervision, work other than normal work hours, respond to call-outs, and may be subject to shift assignments.

Perform gas meter calibration and testing.
Perform pipeline cathodic protection inspections.
Troubleshoot measurement and corrosion problems.
Plan projects and tasks.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, encroachers, etc.
Complete required paperwork: reports, requisitions, etc.
Train and lead other field O&M employees, both on technical and company administrative and operating policies and procedures.

External Qualifications: This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Typically requires 2 to 5 years of related experience, including experience in the maintenance of cathodic protection systems, pigging systems, high pressure pipeline systems, valves, and gas measurement.
Must act in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines and procedures and encourages others to do so.
Possess substantial knowledge of gas measurement and corrosion principals.
Possess strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read technical manuals, one-line diagrams, piping alignment sheets, etc.
Ability to complete tasks and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner including ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Possess intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel/Work/Outlook/Access) specifically for the purposes of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and information retrieval.
Ability to maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with all Company policies as well as all local, state, and federal regulations.
Possess strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Knowledge of mechanical principals, previous experience with MAXIMO database, and NACE certification is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements – Must posses a valid driver’s license. Ability to infrequently travel outside the job location area. This position requires manual dexterity and visual acuity as well as the ability to: Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 pounds; Exert up to 100 pounds of physical force; Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods of time; Twist head and back for extended periods of time; Work in areas classified as confined space; Climb and work from ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms; Ascend and descend slopes and ditches; Work with hands above head; Work lying on back; and, Work in adverse weather and/or extreme temperature conditions.



DOT Requirements - The U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) and Sempra Pipelines and Storage have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications. This position is subject to the Federal Pipelines Regulation; and is stipulated in the 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 40 that requires drug and alcohol testing and must meet the testing standards.
