| Job Description | Western National seeks a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and interpersonal skills to fill a Senior BOP Underwriter position in our Underwriting Department. This individual will work with Agency Sales, Marketing & Business Development, R&D, and IT to establish BOP rates, rules, forms, eligibility, and underwriting guidelines. The Senior BOP Underwriter will determine the desirability and conditions for accepting or continuing insurance coverage in accordance with company standards and manage the corresponding relationships with our partner agents. The Senior BOP Underwriter will supervise, mentor, and provide leadership and underwriting direction to the BOP underwriting team.
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Marketing (or equivalent combination of experience and education); minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting experience (preferably BOP); demonstrated leadership skills, excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong attention to detail and quality; strong customer service orientation: experience in building and maintaining productive business relationships; ability to train, educate, and present information to large groups; intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; some travel; and the ability to work additional hours to complete projects or meet deadlines are required.
Previous BOP and underwriting management experience, strong agency relationships in Western National states of operation, and CPCU designation (or the willingness to pursue) are preferred. |
