As a Senior Business Analyst, you will work as a team member within the Regional Company Group's Marketing and Distribution Department to support strategic and tactical decisions that will contribute to the growth of profitable business. In this role, your primary responsibilities will include providing analytical support to Senior Management and Operating Companies, the development of queries and reports, and building new complex tools for operating companies to support decisions regarding agency management. In addition, you will act as liaison with IT/BI for activities and projects related to maintaining and enhancing the quality of our data and the development of technical business tools.

Responsibilities:

Independently compile information and analyze qualitatively and/or quantitatively data; translate business needs into comprehensive analyses, develop business models, and provide operating companies with tools to support decision-making.

Develop software applications/models and conduct follow up and data verification as needed..
Participate in and may lead the implementation of technical projects and tools.

Re-engineer business operations to improve business results and operational effectiveness.

Evaluate complex business requirements and model data and / or system requirements.

Analyze and document complex business problems.

With the BI/IT team, develop and implement business testing strategies. Coordinate upgrades and rollouts of larger more complex BI / IT projects.

Based on analyses, produce reports, create executive summaries, develop proposals, and/or provide recommendations for action or implementation plans as necessary. Communicates with other departments and/or functional groups across the organization as necessary.

Extract information from various applications, databases and systems using SAS and/or Teradata, manipulate data in spreadsheets, identify and research anomalies; and make corrections as needed. Use information gathered to prepare monthly and quarterly reports; draw conclusions about trends, variances (against plan, year-over-year, etc.) and business performance; present information and distribute reports.

Participate in system integration/business intelligence projects; write business requirements, lead subprojects, perform testing and validation.

Research data quality issues, document findings, and work with IT to resolve discrepancies.

Use internal and external data sources to develop databases to support business needs.

Take pro-active measures to keep management and operating companies informed and updated on the status of their requests as appropriate.

Provide assistance to senior management, operating companies, and other business groups as needed.

Work with the Salesforce.com tool to ensure data quality, develop reports, extract data, and optimize operating company utilization to drive business results.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience. MBA is highly desirable.

Advanced analytical/problem solving and organizational skills, proficiency with spreadsheet and database software, and problem solving ability required.

Solid experience in database management, query development, reporting and analysis.

Ability to prioritize, organize and follow-up in order to meet critical deadlines while delivering quality results.

Must possess proficient quantitative skills and effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently (assuming responsibility for deliverables) or as a team player in a fast-paced environment is critical.
Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with Excel (charts, formulas, pivots and functions), Access, Power Point, Word, and Visio is required.
Proficient use of Teradata, Essbase, Visual Basic, SQL, SAS, Cognos, and relational database modeling is required. Exposure to CRM tool and Dataflux are a plus but not required.
Insurance experience highly desirable.
