About the Job

As our Senior Buyer in the Strategic Procurement department you will play a critical role in the companyís ability to deliver high quality, cost effective products to our customers. Our ideal candidate will be able to effectively source and contract direct materials (traded and untraded) on a timely basis at the lowest total cost, consistent with forecast requirements. In addition, this position is responsible for gathering information from third party sources, resolving issues, supporting new product development and outcomes as well as negotiating new strategies for review and implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop sourcing strategy document plans including a review of the market, suppliers, conditions, risks, long term projections, and benchmarking data.

Develop an in-depth product and process knowledge base about the categories of responsibility and supplier base including a thorough understanding of the entire value added chain and cost drivers through supplier workshops, plant visits, and technical reviews and benchmarking activities.

Develop and maintain ongoing market insight and knowledge to ensure the company is current on all categories of responsibility, vendors, marketing conditions and pricing.

Proactively communicate to management any changes having a large impact on customer pricing and the business.

Engage internal business partners to positively influence product development or product changes based on best practice procurement processes, and leading edge supply solutions achieved through strategic supplier relationships.

Execute and manage all approved contracts.

Identify and manage projects that will provide cost savings and/or process improvements.

Participate in developing annual budgets for categories of responsibility.

Develop diversity spend opportunities in alignment with corporate objectives.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelorís Degree in a related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a sourcing or procurement management role with direct responsibility for supplier management and pricing/costs decisions. Candidates must possess strong supplier management skills and have expertise in industry assessments, financial analysis, negotiating contracts and cost modeling. Professional Certifications and/or Masters Degree preferred.
