Senior Controls Engineer

Job Description
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Thorough understanding of all refinery processes and operations
•Continuous improvement and expansion of the advanced control systems to meet and exceed unit control objectives
•Continuous improvement of regulatory control applications as needed for operations and to support advanced control applications. Develop and program correlations and calculated variable as needed to supplement advanced control applications and operational requirements
•Engineer, implement and maintain supporting applications for process control applications, such as PHD/LIMS, Doc 3000, Integrity MOC and others. Provide training and consulting to personnel in the use of these systems as needed
•Provide consulting to management for long term strategic directions for control applications. Develop AFE’s and budget items for all controls and supplemental applications. Provide instrumentation and controls consulting to other projects, such as new units, as needed
•Engineer and implement effective operator interfaces for both regulatory and advanced controls and supplemental applications. Develop and maintain good standards for graphics, alarms, and other parts of the operator interface assist in the maintenance of all the process control systems hardware and software
•Participate as a team member in HAZOPS
•Mentoring of junior engineers within the department

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required
•Advanced degree in Process controls, chemical engineering or electrical engineering is highly desirable
•Training or experience with executing process controls using Honeywell TDC-3000 and Experion equipment is preferable.
•Training or experience in advanced graphics building using Experion is preferred
•Training and or experience with Honeywell Advanced process control software (RMPCT), Honeywell PHD/LIMS, Uniformance, and OPC development is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum of 6 years experience with process control engineering and implementation is mandatory, preferable with Honeywell TDC-3000 or Experion control system
•Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining multi-variable, model based, predictive control applications (preferable Honeywell Profit Controller) is necessary
•Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining regulatory control strategies (preferable in Honeywell TDC-3000 systems)
•Programming in PLC Ladder Logic, Structured Text and Function Block with Allen Bradley and GE PLC equipment
•Must have work authorization to work for any US employer
