Senior Corrosion & Coatings Engineer

Job Description

Mearsk are looking for an experienced Senior Corrosion Engineer to join our team of Materials, Welding and Corrosion engineers. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical support to various Subsea Projects.


Plan, produce, review and approve (as applicable) Mearsk specifications and related technical documents covering all materials and corrosion mitigation aspects associated with construction and installation of subsea structures/ pipeline systems.

Review client generated specifications and related documents pertaining to materials, and corrosion mitigation systems and provide technical qualifications where required in support of project activities.

Review and approve contractor/subcontractor/ vendor procedures relating to coating application and material use.

Provide specialist technical support to projects and other disciplines within Mearsk with regard to materials selection and corrosion mitigation; provide technical solution of issues within discipline

Maintain awareness of recognised industry codes and standards) relevant to corrosion and materials discipline, (eg ISO 8501, DNV RP-401, ISO 12944, EEMUA 194, Norsok, etc.) providing advice and guidance on interpretation and use where appropriate

Train and mentor Junior and Graduate engineers.

Qualifications and Education

General Education:

A degree in chemistry, metallurgy, materials science, or a related engineering subject is essential.

Commitment to maintaining personal CPD is desirable.

Post graduate qualification in corrosion science/engineering is desirable; other qualifications may be considered dependent on experience.


Technical (including IT):


Good team player is essential.

Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role is essential.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients and contacts at all levels, both internally and externally is essential.

Ability to interface with non specialists within multi disciplinary project teams is essential.

Production of quality presentable work is essential.

Good organisational skills and able to work with a minimum of supervision are essential.

It is essential that candidates are dedicated and have the ability to motivate themselves when unsupervised.
