Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

Provides project leadership and knowledge for projects involving electrical power and distribution as well as instrumentation and controls (instrumentation and controls is a secondary function). Provides electrical/controls knowledge and support for projects led by others. As specific knowledge of refinery power and distribution systems is developed, also serves as a knowledge resource for Operations and Maintenance

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•High School Diploma or equivalent required
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required. Power and distribution specialty preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum 6 years’ experience in heavy industrial power and distribution, refinery and chemical experience preferred
•Thorough knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes. Knowledge of API codes and refining industry practices strongly preferred
•Projects/work experience demonstrating strong project, communication and technical analysis skills
•Advanced skills in MS Office Suite preferred
•Fluent in English, oral and written required
•Strong analytical, priority setting, decision making and performance management skills
•Ability to manage engineering projects with little to no direction
•Ability to lead, coach and mentor junior engineers
•Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Lead multiple projects up to $5MM in size, accountable for scope, schedule, and budget Provide technical support to projects led by others
•Lead outside engineering firms as required to develop scope alternatives and design for projects led by self, others
•Design electrical systems as required
•Assist in development of strategic plan around electrical systems
•Review plans in specialty area as developed by others for technical conformance to code and facility specifications
•Assist in maintain/updating facility specifications and typical details
•Ensure drawings are accurate to support facility PSM requirements
•Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
EXPECTED RESULTS
•Projects are completed safely and meet facility requirements. Integrity is assured in project-related PSM required data
•Ensure project schedule and cost are predictable
•Effectual consideration of multiple alternatives to meet project goals
•Provide effective assistance in defining the strategic plan for the facility with respect to electrical system
•Adherence to all company policies and procedures
