Job Description | POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide Controls Engineering functions as related to packaging equipment and packaging production lines, covering all power and control systems engineering design, review and oversight for capital projects; technical controls assistance for plants; knowledge and dissemination of technical information relative to area of responsibility; employ and deploy new or improved power and control systems in design efforts. Recommend, specify and procure instrumented systems and devices for the advancement of packaging technology within Nestle Purina.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Packaging Controls Engineering design and review for capital projects including detailed phases of the packaging process engineering work, related documentation, and field support. Requires coordination of work by outside consultants and suppliers, broad knowledge of precedents in the machine control area, and an understanding of principals and practices in related specialties.
Provide Packaging Controls Engineering technical assistance to operating facilities. Includes planning/implementing investigation and analysis in problem areas or areas of opportunity for process improvement. Requires ability to collaborate with and contribute to cross functional teams
Provide Packaging Controls Engineering support to Divisional process improvement efforts including systems analysis, scope development, and evaluation of alternate technologies and methods. Keeps abreast of new methods and developments affecting the Division for the purpose of recommending changes in emphasis in programs, or new programs warranted by such developments.
Continually seeks out and applies methods, procedures, practices and technology to improve performance level and efficiency of assigned tasks.
Interacts with Operations and plant personnel to obtain input required to provide customer accepted product. Requires strong communications skills and ability to perform well on teams.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Competency in PLC and PC-Based HMI / SCADA Design, Programming and Implementation.
Working knowledge of PC operating systems and Industrial networking.
Competency in Instrumented Systems specification and design.
Technical writing skills to support instrumentation and control system guidelines.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCAITON:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
EXPERIENCE:
* 3+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controllers
* 3+ years of experience with panel design
SKILLS:
Electrical Power and Controls Design, Systems Integration, Hardware and Instrument Specification, Schematics, and P&ID layout, Safety and Q.A., Datalogging, Allen Bradley RSLogix, Modicon, Intellution iFix, Risk Assessments and S.I.S. Knowledge of robot and vision programming a plus.
