The Senior Planning Engineer will fulfill a non-supervisory role within the Network Access Planning organization. The position will lead the development of detailed network growth and evolution plans in support of the network including but not limited to all elements of the SONET backbone network and DWDM network as well as metropolitan networks in major cities where Windstream has a presence. This work will be associated with a specific multi-state geographic region in the Western region of the United States. The output of this work will be a planning package that is directed to a design engineering team for implementation of the plan(s) through the procurement and installation of necessary network equipment.

Desired Requirements for the position include relevant engineering and / or planning experience in areas including inter-discipline network transport, SONET, DWDM, central office common systems (power, common terminations, office infrastructure, alarms), Outside Plant (OSP) and general telecommunications engineering principles. Additional requirements include knowledge of transport network planning processes and associated data analysis and timing and sizing principles. |
