Senior Facilities Engineer

Job Description
Description and Requirements:
The Senior Facilities Engineer is a corporate level position responsible for the development, justification and management of capital and maintenance projects in the areas of building, utility, and infrastructure construction. The position is responsible for all aspects of project management from preparing project scope documents, cost estimates, and schedules through project completion including supervising design work and construction. The position is also responsible for completing smaller scale design work as required and for providing engineering consulting to the various operating units of the company.

Specific Duties:

Identify, analyze, justify and implement initiatives of significant scope in the areas of building construction projects, utility management, infrastructure, and physical plant.

Manage outside engineering consultants, construction managers, and contractors.

Communicate effectively to all levels in the corporation and with external developers, contractors, and vendors.

Travel domestically and internationally for as much as 40% of the time, sometimes on short notice. Travel includes day and overnight trips.

Perform detailed numerical and logical analysis of proposed construction options, utility proposals, risk management opportunities, and safety and environmental issues.

Actively participate in strategic planning of new facility development and utilization.

Negotiate construction contracts and equipment purchases.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline or other related technical field such as the geo sciences, hydrological sciences, or environmental sciences

Five years direct experience in project management

Experience developing project's scope, estimate, and justification

One year exposure to regulatory compliance or environmental permitting, three years preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working knowledge with MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes or equivalent

Ability to understand and apply statistical analysis

Must be able to work independently and be self motivated

Ability to obtain and maintain a passport and driver's license

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time

Professional license or specialized training highly preferred, for example a PE

Certification in fire protection engineering, industrial hygiene, and safety preferred

Experience in power distribution preferred

Exposure to a manufacturing environment preferred
